Brevard Music Center opens the 2014 season on June 21 with a special performance by one of the world’s most acclaimed violinists – Itzhak Perlman.
Founded in 1936, the Center has matured into one of the country’s premier summer training programs and festivals. More than 400 gifted students, ages 14 through post-college, come to the Music Center to study with members of a distinguished faculty and renowned guest artists. For seven weeks, students participate in a vigorous program of instruction that includes ensembles, private lessons, and chamber music.
The 2014 season features seven weeks of classical masterworks including Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto; operas including Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd; 12 chamber music performances and much more. The summer festival also includes an outstanding lineup of guest artists ranging from Perlman to the internationally-acclaimed Shanghai Quartet. The festival takes place from June 21 through August 3rd this year. Lawn tickets are always available and start at $15 for adults, free for children and students.
